Proud to be Hawaiian

Francine from the Office Of Hawaiian Affairs wrote a really nice article about the cafe in the January edition of Ka Wai Ola. We are so thankful to be featured in this widely circulated newspaper! Thank you Francine for all the wonderful things said of our cafe!
I have never been so proud to be Hawaiian. I have never felt so much support and love from the Hawaiian community as I do now. OHA and other Hawaiian organizations have "hui-ed" together to make sure that small businesses such as ours thrive. I will keep you posted regarding when the other features will be published!

Calling all native Hawaiians!!! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE...If you are contemplating opening a small business please call me! I would love to help you in any way that I can! I have had such an outpouring of support from other Hawaiians that I would love to "Pay It Forward!". Please call me at Red Ginger Cafe at 988-0588.

P.S. Mahalo to Jonathan Scheuer with OHA for hooking us up with Ka Wai Ola! We are indebted...

Red Ginger Cafe at Manoa Marketplace

Wow! It has been one crazy year! Can you believe its almost over?
For those who haven't heard we just opened a little cafe in Manoa Marketplace upstairs above Island Manapua.  I know you're all thinking...ugh! upstairs! Sorry! The rent is cheaper up closer to the clouds, but seriously its actually been a blessing because we get to enjoy Manoa's daily rainbows while meeting the most generous and supportive "Manoa-ans".
We're working on getting our photos ready to build a website but wanted to personalize it with some bLOgginG.  This is going to be a great way to keep in touch with everyone that we just haven't had the time to get together with lately.  Suzette and I are fine, busy bees as usual with jobs, kids (for Mel), hubbies...

So the idea behind the cafe...Mel is really into environmental sustainability and Suzette shares her love for food and shopping.  So we combined the 3~you can come in and enjoy our menu which we try to keep on the lighter side (we use organic and/or local ingredients whenever possible) and shop in our exclusively eco-friendly gift shop.  We are the exclusive retailers in Hawaii for Encore bags made out of recycled juice pouches, Madison and Marcela Organic Toffees, Coldfyre Gourmet Cookie Cremes (all natural ice cream sandwiches) & Ecojot recycled stationary products. We also carry teas from Hawaii's own Tea Chest and Yummy Earth organic candies. We're continually building our retail section so if you know of anything interesting we'd love to hear about it.
We'll be posting as much as possible to keep you up to date so stay tuned! Take Care of yourselves and have a Wonderful, Beautiful and SAFE Holiday Season.

Aloha Ke Akua,
Mel & Suzette and Ohana
